Last weekend, I was planning to wake-up a bit late, but as usual both Iman & Izz will have their big black eyes wide open as early as they can. One of the morning, Iman turned on the radio & Lisa Loeb's song 'Stay" was on the radio...
Then suddenly, I remembered the 90's...
It was the time when I was crazy about American & British (but mostly American) singers... I remembered I spend most of my pocket money buying cassettes & magazines... I watched only English sitcom (remember the sitcom 'Out of This World'? That was my favorite!) & only listens to English radio stations (not much choice then..).... I was always fascinated by their songs!!
And that's how I learnt English. I went to a regular Malay-speaking school (actually Sarawak-Malay) but I always got great marks in English. After SRP (mesti terasa I tua sgt kan, sbb amik SRP bukan PMR.. huhuhuhu), I thought of switching class from pure science to social science so I can take the subject 'Literature in English'. But my teacher was against the idea. Then after SPM, I wanted to take TOEFL, but end up in Computer Science (don't ask me how that happen)..
And my favorite, of course was 'Stay'... I just think the song is great...
It was the longest-non-repetitive lyrics I had ever memorize!! But still some part I was not able to sing... and owh! the song was in the soundtrack of the film 'Reality Bites', starring Ethan Hawkes & Winona Ryder (again, my two favorite actors in the 90's!!)
And she sounded great performing this song live, especially her guitar playing...
